Brand Evolution

Where Miller House Began…

Miller House began with Jennifer Miller Studio. Jennifer has been an interior designer for over a decade, integrating beautiful, thoughtful design into the daily lives of her clients. Her authentic understanding of people’s unique needs allows her to create environments reflective of each of her client’s individuality. She wanted to launch a wallpaper, fabric, and custom furniture business to complement her interior work. She had the designs and vision, but needed to bring it to life.

Where Miller House Is Headed…

Jennifer described her initial vision as “boutique arthouse, inspire by nature.” And we caught that vision and created a brand and website to match. Every design Jennifer made was intended to bring pieces of nature inside, to life moods, and set the tone of a space. The Miller House website needed to set that expectation and meet it. It needed to feel warm, soulful, and sophisticated.

Target Audience

Katarina, 47, is an interior designer based in San Francisco who works with lots of clients in Italy. She is always on the lookout for fresh designs and unique options to bring to her clients that they would not have discovered on their own. She has a unique point of view likes to offer something unexpected, but still serene. She is uninterested in purchasing from big companies who have been creating the same ubiquitous designs for years. She and her clients are driven to create spaces that exude comfort, warmth and airiness. They’re looking for wallpapers, fabrics, furniture, and lighting that are flexible and can beautifully complement pieces they already own.

Fiona, 39, lives in LA and has been following Jennifer Miller Studio for years. Though she can’t quite afford her services, she loves the idea of purchasing some of her unique designed. She is remodeling her home right now and doing as much of it as she can by herself. art and design-forward customers pursuing projects without professional support. She appreciates a sense of handmade authenticity. She values design products that have a boutique art house feel—original, not run-of-the-mill. Aesthetically, she gravitates towards designs that strengthen her connection with nature. And believes that art includes the objects you live with.

Visual Rationale

Our biggest goal for Miller House was to create a visual identity that encompassed the feeling that happens when the elements, textures, patterns and materials all meet in harmony. Their intention is to help customers feel emotionally at ease and strengthen their connection with nature while indoor, and we wanted the brand suite to set the foundation for that and communicate warmth, serenity, and comfort to your target audience. It was also important to use to distinguish Miller House from its competitors, and call attention to the boutique art house feel.

We set out to find the perfect balance—soft enough to convey comfort, yet bold enough to feel established. We wanted to blend Jenny’s work with timeless typography, creating a strong brand foundation that’s personal, consistent and recognizable throughout the long term growth of the MH brand.

If you’ve made it this deep into our site, you probably already know that collaboration is our favorite. This project was a team effort with the help of James Michael Juarez on brand photography.
