Sola Coffee & Eats is a modern cafe in the heart of Kolkata that exists to create a welcoming space for work and community. Their coffee and fresh-made eats are intentionally crafted to serve their customers with excellence, at a reasonable cost.
The Sola Coffee target audience is primarily composed of Kolkatan men and women between the ages of 20-35. Though they vary in life-stage, some in school, others young professionals and parents, they’re all looking for a place to work and mingle over food and drinks. They’re attracted to modern and American design aesthetic, but overall care most about quality service, reasonable prices, and a cozy environment. They are authentic, relatable, modern, approachable, driven, relational, simple, and passionate.
When we set out to brand Sola coffee, we wanted to design a visual brand that would feel relatable, approachable, inviting, and joyful. We used modern sans-serif typography balanced with custom letterforms and a colorful geometric mark to target your audience effectively. While maintaining an American approach to the design, we intentionally chose a color palette that would resonate with their audience and the culture in India. The interconnected ‘ffee’ in ‘coffee’ speaks to the community aspect of Sola as does the rhombus-shaped primary mark— woven together like the mark itself.
